Dorothy holds the Balbriggan Town Council Awards Certificate for her volunteer groups work on the Balbriggan Food Fest 2011.

Dorothy was part of a team of Balbriggan Chamber of  Commerce volunteers who organised the Balbriggan Food Fest August 20th, 2011.  The Food Fest was a huge success and on Thursday October 13th, Dorothy and the rest of the team was recognised by the Balbriggan Town Council.

Dorothy’s function was to create all advertising for the event, which included posters, website, flyers etc and also social network advertising such as facebook.

The Food Fest on August 20th was a fantastic day, with the sun shining for most of the event, a wonderful cooking demo from guest Chef Stephen Grimes who showed us how to use fresh local produce to make a 3 course meal, lots of food tastings from local restaurateurs and food producers, not to mention live music, local crafts and a petting zoo and face painting for the kids.

CHALLENGE:
The Client was a music company that promoted up and coming classical music artists. They had an existing website, but they needed to showcase clips of their clients audio and also upload video clips when needed. The challenge was that the audio had to be the best quality possible  (which does not always work with website download speeds). The player also had to be branded to match the existing site and be easy for the client to update himself.  It also had to be affordable.

SOLUTION:
The challenge to create two players that incorporated our clients needs was solved by searching the web for an open source player that would be easy to integrate into the site design. Using an existing open source player saved us having to create it ourselves and thus saved the Client money. We found an excellent player that worked for audio and also video. It was easy to update as it was an XML based player, so we were able to give instructions to the client on how to update it themselves. The type of player also made it easy to add as many audio and video clips as the Client needed.  It buffered well so we could add clips that were quite large and we could “skin” it to match the Clients website design.

OUTCOME:
The solution worked very well as it saved the Client had a video and an audio player that he could edit quite easily.  It matched the branding of his site and was affordable.

CHALLENGE:
The Client was a Dublin based law firm providing a full legal service to a broad range of clients. The Client had been in business for 10 years and it was time for an office relocation, along with a complete new office IT infrastructure.
We were hired to ensure the smooth transition of the new office IT infrastructure as part of the office relocation, and provide a solution for remote access to their IT systems while still maintaining a high level of security.

SOLUTION:
Our solution was to replace the existing server with Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008 and provide remote access.

This involved:

Installation of data cabling, phone lines and broadband.
Migration of current server data and email to new server.
Remote access set up for email and documents from laptops to iphone.
Replacement of current printers with a multi-function device.
Also required was the installation of two separate servers. All user data and email was migrated to the new servers. An HP all-in-one printer was installed and connected to the network, with scanning and faxing setup. We also set up remote access and provided user manuals to the Client.

CHALLENGE:
The client was paying out a large amount of money for email and web hosting and also for phone calls. They contacted us to find out if there were any options help them save money without any degradation to their service.

SOLUTION:
We requested 6 months of phone bills and their annual costs for internet and email. After analysing the bills we researched various service providers to find products that would meet our clients needs. Having found suitable products we determined that we could cut the clients email and internet bill by over 50% and their phone bill about 30%. We did this by moving their web hosting and email to another service that offered superior quality for a much lower cost. We needed to make sure the changeover was seamless because our client could not afford a disruption in service and a loss of emails.

OUTCOME:
Not only does the client save over 50% on email and web hosting services, they have less spam and more personal control over their email and hosting options. They also have much lower phone bills. The customer is now very happy with a great service and huge savings.

Dorothy works with Balbriggan Tidy Towns Association to set up one of her signs to advertise the Balbriggan Food Fest 2011.

CHALLENGE:
The challenge was to promote an outdoor event and grow attendance from 600 to over 1500 in a year using social media.

SOLUTION:
The first year’s event did not have a website so the first thing we did was set up a simple one page site and a Facebook page. As we organised the event, we updated the site.  Every update was sent to Facebook and every time we sent a message on Facebook, that message linked back to the website.  We also got other local organisations involved, who helped by advertising on their own sites and giving personal help. For example, the Balbriggan Tidy Towns Association helped us put up the road signs and thus we were able to promote the Tidy Towns by putting that event up on their website and Facebook page. The Balbriggan Town Council and Fingal County Council became involved as interest in the event grew.

OUTCOME:
The event was a huge success! It grew from 600 visitors the previous year to over 3000.  Double the intended outcome!
By teaming the website with Facebook, we were able to continually keep the news updated and fresh. We could draw Facebook “friends” back to the site everytime we did an update and we were able to send out invites and guage interest.

Setting up traffic analysis on the site helped up guage how visitors where accessing the site thus helping us determine how our advertising was working. This will help for future events.  Adding a feedback page to the website allowed visitors to let us know how they felt about the event and gave them a sense of involvement after the event.
